INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Scope and policy

Ensaio: Avaliação e Políticas Públicas em Educação aims to publish unpublished articles related to education, with thematic issues on evaluation and public policies in education, priorizing those resulting from research, theoretical studies and essays.

Submitted articles are evaluated in a double-blind system, in which two reviewers, Board members or ad hoc staff, from different institutions, analyze the relevance of the contribution for the existing knowledge in the area.

If there is disparity in opinions the journal will choose a third reviewer, expert on the subject, to untie the evaluation of the article.

Items will be sent to reviewers, after compliance with the requirements described above, through the Journals website of Cesgranrio Foundation/Ensaio, without identifying the author. Similarly, it will not be revealed reviewer’s names to the authors.

Form and preparation of manuscripts

  • The article should follow ABNT style. It should have a maximum of 7.000 words, including title, abstract, keywords, references, illustrations, graphs, tables and maps. The file must be in ".doc" or ".docx" format (text document), and meet the following formats:

font Times New Roman, size 12;
justified alignment;
spacing of 1.5;
references, with left alignment and spacing between lines;
titles and sections should not have fonts or attributes (italic, bold, strikethrough, superscript, highlighted color, etc.).

  • The title, abstract and keywords should precede the article and be presented in three languages: Portuguese, English and Spanish.
  • The use of italics is reserved only to foreign words and phrases.
  • Acronyms should present their spelled-out version when first mentioned in the article.
  • Summary and keywords should not exceed 1.000 characters, excluding spaces, and should be typeset with single line spacing.

Note: The author is responsible for the translation of the title, abstract and keywords in foreign language.

1. Funded research

In the case of funded research, the field Agências de fomento must be filled in in the typing page of the article information (metadata), and should also include a footnote in the document. Footnotes should be numbered sequentially.

2. References

  • Citations and references must be up-to-date, relevant and pertinent. Most references must be from the last five years.
  • As a recommendation, it is requested that authors consider texts already published in relevant scientific journals, in order to dialogue with the theoretical framework of articles.
  • Articles with too many quotations will not be accepted.
  • References should be presented at the end of the article, and be inserted in the metadata (step 3 of article submission – at the website), and follow the rules of ABNT - Brazilian Technical Standards Association (NBR 6023/2018).
  • They must be listed in alphabetical order (by author's last name and initials of the names, in some cases, brought by an entity or title), containing only what was cited in the text.
