GUIMARAES, Beatriz M. A. B.  and  SCHNEIDER, Ivo Alberto. Verbal behavior of children in class and sociological factors affecting it. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 1976, n.16, pp.7-14. ISSN 0100-1574.

The objective of this work was to investigate the possible effects of sociological factors on the verbal behavior of children in class. The population constituted by children of fourth grade in 1973, in Salvador(State of Bahia). The research design comprised direct observation (inside the classroom) and personal interview with a random sample of 97 children. As a whole, the results of the analysis actually confirmed the established hypothesis, that the parents' educational and occupational level, the kinds of schools attended by the children, family size and use of mass media significantly affect the verbal behavior of children; in other words, they show theoretically and empirically the effect of socio-economic status upon verval behavior.
