VICENTINI, Maria Inês Fini Leite  and  ASSIS, Mucio Camargo de. Terminalidade geral e continuidade de estudos de 2º grau: expectativas congruentes?. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 1983, n.45, pp.29-42. ISSN 0100-1574.

The main scope of this study is to examine the relationship between the expectations and needs of high school students and general terminality and continuity of studies principles as presented by the actual renewal of the teaching doctrine. This research has addopted the Getzels approachthat views the school as a social system. This deals withtwo normative dimensions represented in this study by the expectations of teachers and team of school specialist and the personal dimension (at idiosyncratic level) represented by students expectations and aspirations. It deals with two classes of phenomena: on one hand, at nomothetic level, the roles and normative expectations, on the other hand, at idiosyncratic level, students personalities and dispositions. All the interactions occurred in the school are inextricably relacted to the community context, represented in this study by menagers that use the work from the high school students. Results obtainned in this study subgroups allow us to conclude that there is incongnities between the personnal expectations and the institutional expectations. It shows that students books for realization in the high school and it represent for then to go the university. Terminality is condition to survive and suport to universitaire studies. This study was realized with INEP suport.
