Abstract

VIDAL, Diana Gonçalves. Cinema, laboratories, phisycal sciences, and the new school. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 1994, n.89, pp.24-28. ISSN 0100-1574.

Based of the reform of education authored by Fernando de Azevedo (1927-1930), in the Federal District of Rio de Janeiro, the article discusses aspects of the "New School" of the 1920', especially the emphasis on education based on experience in stead of verbal teaching. It shows that thephysical science references - laboratories and experiments - provide support for the constitution of a scientific field against educational discourse. In conclusion, the article presents the cinema as the synthesis of this movement between the Physical and the New School. A new aplication of science, the cinema brings the schoolroom the possibility of living facts until then recounted verbally.
