Abstract

PAIVA, Vanilda. The nineties: new tasks in educating adults in Latin America. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 1994, n.89, pp.29-38. ISSN 0100-1574.

This article addresses the new importance of the adult education at this end-of-century, importance not only as an efficient "alphabetizing" and boosting of competence levels, but as lifelong learning. The dynamics of economics generated by the revolution in technology, based on micro-electronics', highlights the importance of knowledge and change in level, quality and content of educational requirements. The role of adult education is magnified by the need of its constant readaptation imposed by contemporary life needs upon the people's profile by the new forms of employment and unemployement.
