Abstract

This article analyses aspects of change in research on Education in Brazil today. Three points are discussed, taking into account the concrete practice of teachers and researchers. The first concerns the concept of science which guides research and the problems of the way in which some theoretical constructs are often used, which, in the last few years have provided a foundation for investigative reflections and pedagogical practices; the Indi sociability between theory and practice, knowledge as a collective construction and the teacher as researcher are focused. The second point refers to the role of theoretical paradigms in producing new knowledge and the analysis is developed based on Kuhn's theory of science. The third point deals with the challenges of the production of effectively creative, revolutionary knowledge which will contribute to the solution of serious educational problems afflicting us.
