Abstract

The family from the psychological view: a safe place to grow?. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 1994, n.91, pp.62-68. ISSN 0100-1574.

Initially, the text discusses the generic of the family in the ordinary sense and in the scientific field. It tries to situate the family in the area of Family Therapy, using systemic reference with a constructivist/constructionist view and analyses the transformations in a family based upon changes in time and place. For this, universals suchas the life cycle, ethnicity, culture, gender, and socio-economic level are used as its guiding axis. It concludes by emphasizing the peculiarity to the family interactive standards of each one and alerts the therapist to the need to build alternatives conjointly with the client for the problems she herself has not been able to overcome.
