Abstract

This article poses the articulate grounds of argument between the Catholic Church and the Brazilian nation - as to reference matrixes in dispute over the axiological hegemony to address families. The analyses follows the routes of these two institutions, shapers of the order of economicand social formation since our westernizarion, attemptingto accompany conflicts and consensus built around issues such as divorce, family planning, and abortion; and, through them, to suggest changes and permanence of family values, during 1964-1984.
