The text presented here: at the request of the Educational Policy Group of the ANPED, perhaps adds nothing new to what everyone already knows about the state of education in our country. With the exception of some nuances that have arisen inthe political management of educational issues during recent years, the better part of the analysis restates concepts and information already existing in the public domain. However, the emergence of marketing as a fundamental means of producing facts and creating a meta-reality very different from what is really happening in the country's day-to-day school life has inevitable repercussions on the course of events.
