Abstract

SOUZA, Marinês Viana de  and  COELHO, Wilma de Nazaré Baía. The political-pedagogical project and education for ethnic-racial relations: configurations and pedagogical approaches in public schools in Manaus. J. Pol. In this article, we present a segment of a broader study that addressed the perspective of pedagogical coordinators in public schools in Manaus regarding the continuing education of teachers in the field of Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations (ERER). For the purposes of this text, we focus on the axis related to the Political-Pedagogical Project, aiming to understand how ERER is configured in these documents and serves as a parameter for addressing issues related to racism, prejudice and discrimination in the schools of the participants. We engage in dialogue with the studies by Veiga (2003; 2013), Coelho, Regis and Silva (2021) and Coelho et al. (2022), with support from content analysis according to Bardin (2016). The results indicate that categories related to the context of ERER and diversity appear, to a greater or lesser extent, in the PPPs, within the framework of their formal recognition in a prescriptive perspective of norms yet lacking structuring strategies for their materialization in pedagogical practices. The few observed actions are limited to proposals for specific projects or lectures for students, which, although indicating attention to the topic, require further progress to promote institutionalized and more collective actions in schools. We conclude that it is fundamental to invest in ongoing training for pedagogical coordinators in the field of ERER as a strategy to foster the development of PPPs that express principles and practical directions aligned with the guidelines of anti-racist education.
