This article presents a qualitative approach of the State of the Art research on the initial formation of teachers for Basic Education in the dialogue with the educational territories (ETs), from the mapping and analysis of the Brazilian academic-scientific production in theses, dissertations and articles in area of education, from 2014 to 2021. With this research, we aim to understand how the topic is approached in order to identify gaps, challenges or possibilities of dialogue of this training locus with the ETs in favor of a human, integral and critical-emancipating formation for a school in metamorphosis. To generate the data, the catalog of theses and dissertations of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the Educ@/FCC platform, SciELO/Brasil and SciElo/América Latina was used. The corpus of analysis consists of 3 theses and 2 dissertations captured in the CAPES catalog and 1 article from SciELo/Brasil. These publications were analyzed and categorized by the themes of initial teacher education and educational territories, with only one dissertation standing out directly related to the object of the present study. The results indicate a considerable effort to relate teacher training in territorial contexts, especially in cities that are affiliated with the main idea of educating cities and contributed to detect the scarcity of productions on the subject and the urgency on the initial training of teachers and the relationship with the constitution of ETs. We defend initial teacher training materialized in the triad: “with universities and schools” (Nóvoa, 2022) and beyond formal teaching spaces in order to understand them as educational devices.
