Abstract

DANNER, Leno Francisco; DORRICO, Julie  and  DANNER, Fernando. Diversity, democracy and justice: political-cultural minorities and the public basic education. Conjectura: filos. e Educ. [online]. 2022, vol.27, e022036.  Epub Mar 10, 2024. ISSN 2178-4612.  https://doi.org/10.18226/21784612.v27.e022036.

The paper approaches the correlation among democracy, diversity and education from the own condition of political-cultural minorities which are effectively constructed by the triad biological racism, religious fundamentalism and eurocentrismo-colonialism, situation that is resurging politically and culturally in the ascension of fascism as structural core of nowadays Brazilian institutions and social-political life as consequence and current stage of our conservative modernization. Our investigation problem is: how is possible to deconstruct the triad racism, fundamentalism and colonialism, which is basis of our conservative modernization, from the condition, history and values proper to political-cultural minorities? Our answer, constructed from ideas grounded on social theory and Black, Indian and Queer thought, is double: first, political-cultural minorities allow the pluralization of subjects, histories, experiences, practices and values constitutive of our society, denaturalizing and politicizing its evolution and nowadays conditions; second, it is necessary that this public, political and cultural condition of and by minorities can be institutionalized in terms of formulation of public education’s curricula, contents, practices and values, since the social militancy assumed by political-cultural minorities depends to its effectiveness both of this institutionalization to be realized by public basic school and, from here, of the streamlining of educative processes that, based exactly on the condition and sense of the minorities inside the wide context of Brazilian conservative modernization, reach our collectivity as a whole, forging a new democratic, pluralist, fair and reflexive culture.
