How can we say about the importance of a philosophical work for planetary thinking? We believe that for the value it adds to each new present, enabling other ways of feeling, thinking and inhabiting the different experiences of life, including education. In this article, our objective is to bring to light the potential of the works of Paulo Freire and Edgar Morin regarding the relationship between temporalities and education. We used the methodology based on bibliographic research to map the conception of time in the works of Freire and Morin. The thinking of the patron of Brazilian education emphasizes the becoming of the temporalities experienced by the subjects and of History, both understood as incompleteness that enables the engendering of viable novelties. In turn, the French philosopher's thought seeks, from the critique of Cartesian thought, to propose complexity as what is woven together, thus intertwining life and knowledge. The excess of experiencing chronological time in relationships has materialized in the insatiable pursuit of having through the exploration of the self, through the image of a potential boss, whose relationships are becoming exhausted and elusive, and education tends to just repeat a curriculum that meets market demands. We came to the conclusion that there is a philosophical link in the conception of time that underlies the reflections on this category in the works of Paulo Freire and Edgar Morin, which make us think that other ways of experiencing time that are urgent in and for current education. Inspired by the ideas of Freire (1982, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019) and Morin (2003, 2008, 2010, 2014), to signal possibilities of resignification of time in contemporaneity, thinking it not as a future emptied of the present that is placed at the service of production, but as attention to the present as a power that allows hope in education.
