The present article describes the evaluation of the 7th course for training pedagogical assistents given by the Personnel Training Division of the Education Secretariat of the São Paulo Municipality. This evaluation covers: 1) the cognitive aspect by means of applyingan objetive test (pre and post test) during the first stage of the training, and a criterion test at the end of the 2nd stage; 2) an opinion survey and self-evaluation by means of appropriate scales; 3) aspects of the perception of function by means of the Q technique and using the PF-AP (Gatti et al, 1972, 1974) instrument, and comparing two moments: one of them at the end of the first stage ("theoretical" moment), and the other one nine months later ("practical" moment). A good rate gain was detected in the cognitive area, satisfaction and fitness concerning the various aspects of the course and regarding the individual performance, and a change in the perception of the function in the two moments.
