Abstract

POPPOVIC, Ana Maria; ESPOSITO, Yara Lúcia  and  CAMPOS, Maria Machado Malta. Cultural deprivation: subsidies for a pre-school curriculum. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 1975, n.14, pp.7-74. ISSN 0100-1574.

The objective of this research program was to define psychological and social aspects of cultural deprivation in children aged between 4 and 6, from kindergartens belonging to the city of São Paulo. The aim was to furnish the organizers of pre-school curriculum with elements to base their work on existing reality. Special instruments were developed to characterize culturally deprived children, especially a cognitive instrument covering operations, concepts, knowledge, and ability which are indispensable for the children before entering school. Since the organization of a curriculum requires more than the knowledge of the student's ability and level of information, the living conditions of the children and their families were also investigated. Behaviour and attitudes liable to alter the learning capacity of the children have also been investigated.

Keywords : Marginalização cultural; Currículos; Educação pré-escolar; Escala de avaliação.
