Abstract

The research compares the achievement of 161 students in an essay test and in a multiple choice exam specially constructed to measure writing ability. Significant correlations show that in this case and for this sample there is agreement of achievements in the two types of exams; therefore it is possible to conclude that the multiple choice exam measures whatever the essay test also measures.
