Abstract

MORAES, Maria Lygia Quartim de. Infancy and citizenship. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 1994, n.91, pp.23-29. ISSN 0100-1574.

The dependence of children upon adults gives to priority to the issue of maternal-paternal responsibility. This article discusses the requirements for the construction of a democratic citizenship, starting from the view that the sense of justice is the fruit of "living loved" and profected during childhood. It is from its concrete relationships with others, especially those with whom the child lives most intensely, that a child shall have or not a sense of justice. The guarantee of a happy childhood, in turn, is rooted in the statute of maternity, to maternal-paternal responsibilities, and a possible role of the State.
