Abstract

The article weaves together considerations on the experience developed with history and geography teachers of the public state school system of São Paulo, in a project titled Memory and History. The project in reference had a trajectory that can be divided into three stages: the first, beginning in 1989, recorded assets of cultural values in the Bananal and Santo Antônio da Posse regions. Following that, it was carried out in some neighborhoods of the capital and of the Baixada Santista, involving sixteen schools and approximately 160 teachers. The project developed in the Móoca neighborhood on Italian immigration satands out and was registered in video. Finally, during 1993, 300 teachers from 29 schools in the following cities of the state of São Paulo participed: Carapicuíba, Sorocaba, Porto Feliz, Votorantin, Itu, Piedade, Pilar do Sul, Iperó, São Roque, Santana do Parnaíba, Pirapora do Bom Jesus.
