Abstract

ALVAREZ ARAGON, Virgilio. Abstract the situation and challenges of graduate study in Latin America. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 1998, n.105, pp.11-51. ISSN 0100-1574.

By a thorough presentation of all the different graduate courses in Argentina, Brasil and Mexico, sorted by their administrative dependency and area of knowledge, the author tries to show the important role that this type of studies play in the higher education of their respective countries, as well as he wishes to indicate the differences and similarities (coincidences) that could appear between them. Considering the evaluation process as something central for the understanding of the development and consolidation of this kind of studies, the author intends to establish comparisons between the results of the different courses in the evaluation processes of their respective countries, comparisons that are realized without forgetting that these kind of processes are, not only different, but they give answers to different expectations and backgrounds.
