This text is an expanded and revised version of Teaching is performance (1994), in which I proposed a conceptual framework for mapping the generative intersections between liberatory education and the emerging critical performance paradigm. This revision resituates that essay within contemporary theoretical and methodological innovations in performative pedagogy, while deploying the new poetics of performative writing as a method representing performance-inflected educational research.
