Abstract

The article discusses the hope as a concept/category in popular education developed by the Training Centre of Urban-Rural Sister Araújo (CEFURIA). With bibliographic nature of research methodology, based on documents produced by CEFURIA, especially the work "CEFURIA: 25 years making popular history", by Ana Ines Souza. As a theoretical reference it was used the works of Jürguen Moltmann, Ernst Bloch, Paulo Freire, Alfonso Torres Carrillo, Carlos Rodrigues Brandão and Danilo Streck. The research showed that hope/utopia is a concept/category that permeates the entire trajectory of CEFURIA and structure the search for building a great utopia: the socialist construction of hope, understood as a just, fraternal and democratic society.
