Abstract

Based on the analysis of Francisco Campos, work, this study discusses two aspects related t his educational proposals: the importance of production and of modernization of elites and, from an epistemological point of view the idea  that experience is the starting point for knowledge and for the educational process. Following this line of thought, the analysis follows strictly Francisco Campos proposals during his performance as the State Secretary of Interior Affairs of Minas Gerais (1926-1930) and as the Ministry of Education and Public Health Affairs during the Provisory Government (1930-1932). Finally, the study also indicates that in Campos educational and pedagogical processes, principles were always subordinated to his broader political projects.
