Abstract

VIEIRA, Carlos Eduardo. The concept of human formation in Antonio Gramsci. Educ. Rev. [online]. 2003, n.37, pp.83-94. ISSN 0102-4698.

This article intend to discuss Gramsci´s reflection on formation of man in society as an inseparable part of his policy theory. The present interpretation intends to Gramsci´s ideas in the ambit of their specific production contexts. The conclusions point to the possibility of a human formation theory that avoids the reduction of formative process concerned only as intellectual development of man in isolate conception: in the same way the conclusions intend to avoid the formation of personality in a very determinist way, with man concerned as a passive product of social environment. This a correlative theory of human formation based on the binomial individual-environment.

Keywords : Gramsci; Culture; Human Formation.
