AMANCIO-VIEIRA, Saulo Fabiano; BORINELLI, Benilson; DENEGREIROS, Letícia Fernandes  and  DALMAS, José Carlos. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DIRECT COST AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: A MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN LONDRINA / PR. Educ. Rev. [online]. 2015, vol.31, n.1, pp.169-194. This study examines factors related to student achievements in elementary schools in Londrina (Paraná, Brazil), notably the direct cost of education. As theoretical approach, the issues of public policy evaluation and the relationship between costs and educational achievement in Brazil were adopted. This research is characterized as descriptive and quantitative, and is carried out by a census of 67 elementary schools (primary years) in the municipality of Londrina. For data analysis, exploratory statistics, identification of differing values, principal component analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis were determined. As a result, this research has obtained a model with coefficient of determination of 50.8%, with the average performance of students in the Prova Brasil/Saeb in portuguese and mathematics being the dependent variable. It can be observed that teacher's experience, social cost, and administrative cost are the variables that largely explain the students' school performance.
