This article aims to analyze elements of educational and cultural practices - based on the cultural movement between high-ranking officials, letratados men of military corps of the Portuguese crown, and also between low-ranking, composed of free men, poor and slaves in mato Grosso colonial society. Objective through the implementation of content and standards, conducts to inculcate and educational practices to teach, show the differential in the transmission of knowledge, wrapped in the spaces barracks, forts, prisons and fortresses of work tools such as machetes, rulers , maps, canoes, weapons, wood, iron, water and animals, in addition to the practical lessons of craft, which required the learning of reading, writing and arithmetic, understanding the concepts of dimensions and weights, and other services and knowledge necessary to erect buildings. And yet, the operation of the military organization as an institution to know and do.
