Abstract
RODRIGUEZ UGALDE, Diana Cecilia. Gender as a device of power: an analysis from three patriarchal orders. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2023, vol.31, n.2, e85909. Epub May 01, 2023. ISSN 1806-9584. https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2023v31n285909.
The essay maintains as a central argument that the historical debts of patriarchy with women are with all of humanity, although with different scopes. Thus, it takes up the analyses by Federici, Mies, and Segato on the reconfigurations of the patriarchal order in the face of the conformation and mutations of the order of capital. Specifically, it exposes the social framework of three patriarchal orders: one, in an ethnographic story that shows gender as a fundamental element of organized crime in Michoacán, based on what was observed with basic education workers. The second, in the rise of capitalism in Europe, and the third, during the intrusion of the colonial-modern world into the world-village in contemporary times in Latin America. Subsequently, it analyzes the scope of these three patriarchal orders in men’s and women’s lives.
