The article analyses the main features of the economic activity performed In house by male workers and compares it to the female in house work It is based on data obtained In interviews with 10 in house mate workers from different social layers Analysts of the interviews reveals that mate s choices are not taken because of familia' reasons but because this kind of activity allows him to enjoy autonomy time flextbility and cost reduction Men are able to preserve their professional Ide even when they develop it at home They are able to clearly distinguish their professional and domestic space even when the physical separation between these two environments is not visible As they stay home longer they help with the household although they have a more objective and rational relation to the domestic/family space than women usually have.
