Abstract

ELLIOT, Lígia Gomes  and  FILIPECKI, Ana Tereza. Ensinando e avaliando o pensamento crítico. Ensaio: aval. pol. públ. educ. [online]. 1995, vol.03, n.08, pp.263-272. ISSN 0104-4036.

This article emphasizes a needed change in teaching and evaluation to institutions and teachers which are concerned with the preparation of critical and autonomous students who will be able to apply inquiry abilities in various curricular areas. Besides presenting the concept of critical thinking and its explanation by means of a metaphor developed by Clarke and Biddle (1993), the authors also present some examples of learning strategies for the development of critical thinking, including the Gowin's Vee. These examples clearly reveal the application of basic principles of a non-conventional teaching. Self-evaluation and formative evaluation are recommended to appraise personal changes on students critical thinking during the development of teaching experiences.
