Based on the work of a research team of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, this paper discusses the evaluation process in an elementary school. Following a sociological orientation, the author studies the influence of the division of the school into two social segments over the process of evaluation and its consequences for the job and the education of teachers.
