This study proposes an analysis of the current situation of higher education regarding technology and the future prospects for professional education in Brazil. The research takes a qualitative exploratory approach, aiming to identify the importance of current public policies focusing on training and qualifications in vocational and higher education courses in technology. Data were collected from the statistics of the Census of Higher Education as well as from documents on the subject of professional education, which came from the Sistema S and federal education. The study results show the increased number of vacancies in higher education and the prospect of a better qualification of vocational education by institutions and note the need to develop new proposals to help students access training programs for technology in higher education in Brazil.
