This paper aims to discuss the main guidelines of the international agendas of the last three decades and what they prioritized for the Education of young people and adults (EJA, in Portuguese). Using the documental research, this paper sought to compare and analyze the goals and strategies defined in the agendas of Education for All (EPT, in Portuguese), in the Millennium Development Goals, and in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda. The results showed that there was a continuation of the macro guidelines. However, the EPT emphasized alphabetization and learning whereas the SDG prioritized actions to encourage technical and professional education. At the end, we present some indicatives of approximation of the Brazilian national agenda for youth and adult education (EJA) with the international agenda.
