Abstract

QUIROZ-SCHULZ, Leslie  and  FARE, Mónica de la. THE PLANNING PROCESS OF AN INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC MOBILITY: FACTORS AND ACTORS. Revista da FAEEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2024, vol.33, n.73, pp.244-263.  Epub May 01, 2024. ISSN 2358-0194.  https://doi.org/10.21879/faeeba2358-0194.2023.v33.n73.p244-263.

This article addresses the issue of planning an International Academic Mobility (MAI in Spanish acronym form), considering the main factors and actors involved in this process. The theoretical perspective is based on Pierre Bourdieu’s Theory of the Scientific Field, prioritizing the concepts of capital, habitus, and scientific field, it also incorporates contributions from Latin American authors. The empirical field was built from 24 in-depth interviews with 24 doctors and doctoral students from four Programs, categorized at the highest levels of the evaluation scale used in Mexico. The results indicate the importance of four dimensions: financing and relevance of development agencies; the thesis supervision, the coordination of the Doctoral Program and other actors; the previous experiences and the mobility capital of the doctoral student as well as the key decisions made by the agents: temporality and destination.

Keywords : Higher Education; Doctorate degree; Mobility; Internationalization; Mexico.
