Abstract

POLYDORO, Soely Aparecida Jorge et al. Promotion of self-regulation for learning at university: Perceptions of the impact of an elective course. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.3, pp.201-213. ISSN 1519-3993.  https://doi.org/10.0000/edpuc.2015.203.201.

The aim of this article was to analyze the perception of college students of an elective course on self-regulated learning. Throughout the 15 weekly meetings of the course, the students discussed the following topics: studying, objectives, learning strategies, time management, and self-regulation. During each meeting, the students participated in a group dynamics and then read one of the letters from the program 'Cartas de Gervásio ao seu umbigo', followed by a group discussion, synthesis and suggestion of an activity. One hundred and twenty-four students answered the assessment questionnaire, and changes in all dimensions and phases of self-regulation were identified in the analyses of their responses. They reported the following conducive factors to change: peer relationship, knowledge of strategies, instrumentality, strengthening of self-efficacy, the exercise on self-reflection, and perception of agency. It may be concluded that the promotion of self-regulated learning at the university is feasible and relevant.
