The aim of this study is to discuss some issues related to the education or training of pedagogy and geography teachers at the College of Education, Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina, based on the triad teaching, research, and extension. This is a theoretical discussion concerning a review of the literature and an investigation of the activities to promote teacher training that establishes relationships between the university and elementary, middle, and high schools. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of the education, research, and extension projects carried out in these two courses contributing to the development of a critical view of reality and a clear conception of the professional context in which these teachers will work. Accordingly, the following question was raised: what are the possible contributions of the projects developed for the initial training of under graduate geography and pedagogy students at the College of Education, Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina?
