Abstract
MELO, Fernando Garcez de and MOREIRA, Evando Carlos. The physical education textbook: A reading of the academic production. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2019, vol.24, n.3, pp.445-462. ISSN 2318-0870. https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v24n3a4475.
The objective of this study is to gather and interpret the academics production (thesis and dissertations)regarding the physical education textbook. The period investigated is between 1987 and 2018, using theinformation from the Thesis and Dissertations Catalog of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoalde Nível Superior. The justification lies in the recent inclusion of physical education in the National Book andTeaching Material Program and in the necessity of finding subsidies for the follow-up of this implementationprocess and its developments within the scope of physical education teaching practice. Taking RichardRorty’s pragmatism as a reference for recontextualizing production and presenting a new text, the hopesand fears present in academic productions are highlighted, emphasizing a set of studies which exploredthe textbook potential that has hope in the experimental and humble ways. Unlike any other groups (thecontent analysts), who believe in the broad theoretical ways of finding justice and truth. Finally, anotherpoint of view for physical education teachers is suggested, so that they can accept the textbooks of the fieldwith an affective approach to a humble and experimentalist hope especially identified in the group thatwill be called the explorers of the textbook potential.
