Abstract

BAHIA, Sara  and  TRINDADE, José Pedro. O potencial das tecnologias educativas na promoção da inclusão: três exemplos. Educ. Form. Tecnol. [online]. 2010, vol.03, n.01, pp.96-110. ISSN 1646-933X.

Educational technologies and inclusion are two realities in today and tomorrow’s school. However, the use of Information and Communication Technology as a means of promoting inclusive practices in education formal and non-formal contexts is still far from a reality, particulary in regards to the benefits of an inclusive philosophy (Karagiannis, Stainback & Stainback, 1996). Educational technologies when used in planned and theoretically grounded ways have the potential to make a contribution to promote positive attitudes towards diversity, enhance academic achievement, develop of a sense of community, and non-ableist beliefs, attitudes and practices. The present article presents three case studies that illustrate how educational technologies were used to promote the principles of inclusion in two different contexts. Each case is complemented by a grounded and critical reflection about its efficacy and its possible applicability in different educational contexts.
