Abstract

ARAUJO, Rosane Cardoso de; CAVALCANTI, Célia Regina Pires  and  FIGUEIREDO, Edson. Motivação para aprendizagem e prática musical: dois estudos no contexto do ensino superior. ETD [online]. 2009, vol.10, n.numeroespecial, pp.249-272. ISSN 1676-2592.

The text presents two studies about motivation and musical practice; they were all developed in the Higher Education ambit. The studies were conducted by using two distinct referentials: Self-Efficacy Beliefs (Albert Bandura) and Self-Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan). The methodological outline for each investigation was the surveying study, conducted through data collection elaborated according to each referential. The investigated population consisted of students of Music Colleges at a Music Institution in Curitiba. The results point to the possibilities of verifying the motivational process of music students by observing aspects such as: a) the confidence in his own capacity and his beliefs to produce results; b) the intentional actions that might produce change; and c) the factors that can promote them. The intention, at the end of the text, was to emphasize the observation of these aspects from the point of view of educators as the means to promote a music learning process more meaningful and oriented.
