Street and its different representations according to the perception of youth in street situation. This article approaches the theme of youth, focusing on experiences lived by them in street situation. It is a qualitative study, carried out in two teaching institutions from a city in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. The aim of such study was to identify the representations of youth regarding the street. Semi-structured interviews and focal groups with 40 youth were carried out. Results point out different perspectives about the experience of life on the streets. Participants refer positive aspects, such as warmth, freedom and leaving existing situations of suffering and violence in the family context. They also highlighted a negative representation, associated to stigmatization and marginalization of people who live in the streets. The ways out of the street situation pointed out by the youth concern working and school as means of protection.
