The study aims to identify and analyze the presence of Paulo Freire in research groups registered in the Directory of CNPq Groups, linked in the field of Education. This is a qualitative bibliographic research. Sixteen research groups are composing our sample. The data provided an opportunity to understand the configuration of the research themes, and it was also possible to verify which groups constitute networks of sociability among themselves. In this sense, Paulo Freire's presence is represented by two central themes: teacher training and pedagogical practices. In addition to these central themes, we located four elements that connect them to Freire's thought, namely: epistemological, political-pedagogical, ethical and methodological.
Keywords : Paulo Freire; research groups; sociability networks.
