This study aims at understanding the role of Methodology of Higher Education Teaching and of Organization of Pedagogical Work in the development of university teaching. In the perspective of qualitative research, the following procedures to collect data were chosen: documental analysis, interview, observation and focal group. The analyses show that the pedagogical training of university professors privileges the organization of pedagogical work from the point of view of heterogeneity and contextualization, emphasizes the principles of unity between theory and practice and the inseparability of teaching, research and extension, but allows the context of basic education to appear. The preoccupation regarding the pedagogical relation, the training and participation of graduate students in the production of knowledge, besides the establishment of a relation between the designed plan of teaching and the daily teaching practice was manifest. The study concludes that these courses are acquiring greater importance in the field of graduate studies, ponders over the training of university professors.
