This study presents preliminary results of an exploratory, bibliographical and documentary research on the subject of the commodification of education in Brazil, aiming to characterize the current offer of higher education in the state of Bahia, presenting aspects of the commodification process, contextualized by a growing crisis speech in national education. These results point to a rapid process of financialization, oligopolization and transnationalization of education, setting the current scenario of commodification of Brazilian higher education. This scenario extends to the offer of higher education in the state of Bahia, which has a private sector representation of 92% of institutions and 74% in undergraduate enrollment, with the participation of large educational groups.
