The Apprenticeship Law that is provided for in the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) aims to create opportunities for adolescents and young people, between 14 and 24 years old, to enter the job market. At the same time that it proposes to guarantee an integral formation to the student, it intends to qualify the workforce, through the training institutions. The present article proposes to investigate who are the participants of the Professional Learning program in a training institution located in the city of São Paulo. This is a quantitative approach research with an explanatory character. It was constituted with the application of a questionnaire with 25 closed and multiple choice questions based on the IBGE criteria, considering the social and multidomain statistical groups. One of the selection criteria was the period of students in the Program, contemplating apprentices in the initial stage (from 1 to 5 months), intermediate (7 to 10 months) and final (13 to 16 months), in addition to the diversity of ages. The study found a difference between apprentices under and over 18 years old. Those who enter the job market early suffer even more from social injustice, as they have the most populous homes and more than half have a monthly family income of up to two minimum wages. In general, their parents have a lower level of education when compared to the parents of older students. The common point between them is the search for professional experience.
