In the international university context, there is a growing demand for institutional assessments to monitor graduates. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the United States are pioneers in the development of assessment strategies considering their graduates, especially from alumni associations. In this vein, this investigation aims to analyze the characteristics of institutional policies for evaluating graduates in HEIs in the United States via alumni associations. Therefore, methodologically, the study is supported by a qualitative approach and the development of bibliographical and documental research. The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) higher education evaluation ranking for the year 2021 in the United States was adopted as a selection criterion for the HEIs. Among the top 10 ranked universities, Yale, Harvard and Princeton universities were selected via a simple sample. The data collected in their respective portals identifies a consolidated policy for the evaluation of graduates as a strategic tool for the management of North American HEIs based on the incorporation of associations of former students as protagonists in these processes. This policy is focused on measuring quality indicators and, above all, ensuring funding sources for academic activities through donations from alumni.
