Abstract

COCO, Valdete  and  MELLO, André da Silva. Professional development in early childhood education: teacher education, recognition and valuation. J. Pol. Educ-s [online]. 2023, vol.17, e91492.  Epub Oct 11, 2023. ISSN 1981-1969.  https://doi.org/10.5380/jpe.v17i0.91492.

We approach the theme of teaching in Early Childhood Education (ECE), by proposing remarks related to topics of training, recognition and appreciation, in the horizon of attention to professional development. In approaching the Bakhtinian theoretical-methodological references, in articulation with the commitments affirmed for ECE (especially the expansion and qualification of care), we start from a serie of productions linked to a research group. With these accumulations, we highlight the complexity of the actors that mark the processes of participation, the production of norms (for the outlining of training and the development of ECE) and the conditions placed in the field of work (in particular, in the provision of functional staff). As a result, we point to the approach of professional development as a movement, that adds to the conditions that mark the development of ECE, in order to claim investments in this field of work.
