The text seeks to deepen the understanding of the concepts and foundations of democracy, highlighting the challenges encountered in contemporary times. It is based on qualitative research, to answer the following central question: how are the conceptions and foundations of democracy, democratization and school management presented in the contemporary context? Thus, it discusses the concepts and foundations of democracy, post-democracy and democratization of school management. Bibliographical research was the procedure of the methodology adopted to analyze the context and production of the theoretical text in this article, understanding that using the contributions of different authors on the subject, the conceptions and foundations of democracy and the democratization of school management nowadays.
