Abstract

DINIZ JUNIOR, Carlos Antônio. Unesco's influence on strategies related to basic education in Mercosur Educational Plans. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.72, pp.342-366.  Epub Sep 19, 2022. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.22.072.ao04.

This study aims to analyze the alignment(s) of the strategies linked to basic education in the Mercosur Educational Plans to the guidelines issued by the Main Education Project for Latin America and the Caribbean (PPE) within the scope of the United Nations Organization for Education (Unesco). This research has a qualitative approach, and it was based on bibliographic and documentary research. It considers documents edited by the Unesco and the Mercosur Educational Plans, collected at the UNESDOC - Digital Library of the UNESCO - and at the official Mercosur Educational website. In addition, this article takes into account studies that deal with education in the context of globalization and Mercosur (Educational). Among the results, in the context of the country's development processes there is the understanding that education is a key element. Furthermore, the Basic Education was gradually receiving more relevance in these plans, bringing elements associated with regional integration, focusing on the most vulnerable social strata, continuing teacher education, and greater participation of the society in the decision-making processes. However, the Educational Mercosur indeed constitutes a space for the confluence of reformist ideas already expressed in the documents of Unesco and other international organizations.
