Abstract

KUSTER, Eliane  and  VIEIRA, Alboni Marisa Dudeque Pianovski. Teacher training in normal higher education courses: a “state of knowledge” (2003-2016). Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2024, vol.24, n.80, pp.348-364.  Epub Apr 29, 2024. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.24.080.ao11.

The object of study of the article was the training of teachers in normal higher education courses. The question proposed was: What has been produced about teacher training in normal higher education courses? In search of answers, the general objective was outlined: to analyze the scientific production on the training of teachers in normal higher education courses and the specific objectives: to list what has been produced in this area, to investigate the evolution and characteristics of research and to identify recurrences relevant to the topic. To this end, a “state of knowledge” was carried out, with support from Morosini (2015) and Romanowski and Ens (2006). The corpus of analysis was composed of Brazilian productions exported from the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations and the CAPES Catalog of Theses and Dissertations. The time frame was established between 2003 and 2016. The data produced were analyzed according to Bardin's guidelines (1977), which allowed the identification of two categories: pedagogical theory and practice in teacher training and teacher training from the perspective of the history of education and educational policies, from which five subcategories emerged, which favored the investigation of the selected productions. The research allowed us to reflect on the organization of education in the country, educational policies responsible for the institutionalization of teacher training and pedagogical practices. The results demonstrated that normal higher education courses, in their brief trajectories, had relevance in the history of Brazilian education.
