TOZETTO, Susana Soares; MACENHAN, Camila  and  VOLKMAN, Elizabete. Iria Brzezinski: relations between teaching, activism, and research. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2024, vol.24, n.80, pp.74-89.  Epub Apr 29, 2024. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.24.080.ds05.

This article presents elements of Prof. PhD Iria Brzezinski aiming at revisiting the trajectory of that author's life and work, emphasizing her biographical aspects as a teacher, researcher and activist. Professor Iria Brzezinsk's biography is permeated by the mixture between her teaching career, her political activism in defense of teacher’s education and the historical context experienced by society. For this article, we deem it necessary to write about professor Iria Brzezinski’s life trajectory and research, emphasizing three aspects that complement each other, namely, the author's life events, the relationship between her life story and the historical context in which she began her research; and the relationship between her research, her political activism and her work defending teachers’ professional education. Iria Brzezinski's research made a significant contribution to the teachers’ training area, both in the debate of guidelines for teaching undergraduate courses, and in reflections on the concepts of teaching, initial professional education and continuous development, and technocratic training, as well as to the conceptions of educators’ identity and education. That author's contributions to the educational area are undeniable, Brzezinski formulated definitions that contributed to the reformulation of the Education course and, consequently, of other teaching undergraduate courses, defending ideas and concepts that marked the trajectory of education in Brazil.
