Abstract

ECHES, Elisabete Cristina Pereira. Research on inclusion of students with visual impairments in higher education. Educ. Teoria Prática [online]. 2023, vol.33, n.66, e13.  Epub Dec 31, 2023. ISSN 1981-8106.  https://doi.org/10.18675/1981-8106.v33.n.66.s16535.

This article is part of the research of a Masters degree in Education course. It aims to study Brazilian dissertations, theses and scientific articles on the Inclusion of Visually Impaired Students in Higher Education. The theoretical basis of this research is the Historical Materialism of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The searches were carried out in the BDTD, in the Scielo Library, in the CAPES Periodicals Portal, in the Revista Educação Especial of Universidade Santa Maria, in the Brazilian Journal of Special Education and ANPED Working Groups (GT's) related to Higher Education and Special Education. The search returned 318 theses and dissertations and 263 articles. However, only 28 theses and dissertations and 16 articles were within the subject studied. It is concluded that there is little research on the subject, it also verifies that some institutions have met the demands of students with Visual Impairment who are in Higher Education, however, others do not provide this service, or do not do it properly.

Keywords : Students with Disabilities; Vision Impairments; Higher Education.
