This paper is about ways of introducing African-Brazilian cultures to zero- to three-year-old children in schools in Porto Alegre metropolitan area. It discusses pedagogical work concerning these cultures aiming to put National Curriculum Guidelines for Children Education (2009) into practice. First we conducted semi-structured interviews with managers and teachers and later pedagogy students took practices in nurseries. The study pointed to the significance for them to be expanded in teacher training courses, discussions addressing babies and the importance of introducing practices promoting racial equality in children schools in search of an anti-racist education.
